Meltdown Mastery · a course for parents

When your child melts down, you need to know what to do in the next 60 seconds.

Not another sticker chart.

Meltdown Mastery teaches you the same de-escalation and regulation strategies I was trained to use as a nurse on an inpatient child and teen unit, translated for your kitchen, your car, and your 7 a.m. school mornings.

Is this you?

  • You can feel the meltdown coming, and you still don't know what to do when it hits.
  • You've tried the charts, the consequences, the calm-down corner. Some days they work. Most days they don't.
  • You raise your voice, and then you lie awake replaying it.
  • You're walking on eggshells in your own house.
  • Everyone has advice. Nobody has told you what to actually say.

A meltdown isn't your child choosing to be difficult. It's a child whose nervous system is overwhelmed and who, in that moment, can't think their way out of it.

You can't reason with a child who's in it. But you can help them come back down, and that's a skill. It can be learned, and it can be practiced.

On an inpatient unit, staff are trained to do exactly that: spot the early warning signs, stay steady when a child can't, de-escalate safely, and repair afterward. Those skills don't belong only to hospitals. Parents deserve them too.

Start here: your first lesson

During the Next Meltdown.

A short lesson you can watch tonight: what to say, what to do with your own voice and body, what not to do, and how to reconnect afterward. Then, when things are calmer, the rest of the course shows you why it works and how to make the hard days less frequent.

Who I am

I'm Dr. Trish Schneider, DNP, PMHNP-BC. I've been a nurse for 27 years, including time on an inpatient child and adolescent unit, where these strategies are part of how staff are trained to keep kids, and everyone around them, safe. I'm also a mom. I know what it's like to be the grown-up in the room when you have no idea what to do next.

What this is, and what it isn't

Meltdown Mastery is education for parents. It's not therapy, a diagnosis, or medical or psychiatric care for your child, and it doesn't replace your child's pediatrician, therapist, or other clinicians. If your child is ever in danger of hurting themselves or someone else, call 911 or 988.

FAQ

What ages is this for?

Children and teens, up to age 18.

My child has ADHD / autism / anxiety. Will this help?

These are widely used, general strategies for helping an overwhelmed child, and many parents of kids with different needs find them useful. They don't replace individualized care, so keep your child's clinicians in the loop.

I don't have 5 hours.

Start with the first lesson. It's short, and it's built for tonight. The rest can wait until you have a quiet evening.

What if it's not for me?

Email [email protected] within 7 days of purchase for a full refund. The Start Here lesson and Modules 1 and 2 open right away; the rest of the course opens on day 8.

You are not a bad parent. You are an under-supported one. Let's change that.
